Don't ask me how I've gone this long without even mentioning Red Dead Redemption. It is one of my top contenders for Game of the Year, because you know, there is only ONE Game of the Year. Anyway, this entry is going to be rather short. The thing is, there is a lot that leads up to the moment and I'm too lazy to bring up wikipedia and recount all of that. YOU CAN DO IT, THOUGH!!! :-D... Or you know... you could play the game.
First of all, this event took my by surprise. John Marston (your character) has already been through a ton and now he's being told that he has to go all the way to Mexico to continue his manhunt. He finally realizes that his mission is no where near over and it will be quite some time before he will be allowed to see his family again. So as the sun sets, you start to ride off towards Mexico... and then this song starts playing.
Man... My life is so difficult... *Sheds tear*
Like I said, the moment took me by suprise. I wasn't expecting any full-length original songs that would be used to prefectly capture moments. This isn't even the only one, or my only favorite moment. Trust me, this probably won't be the only time I write about this game.
The sadness and longing the song conveys, it actually made me rethink my life (I was going through a lot at the time... don't ask). I felt empathy for John. He had been through so much during the game already (not even counting his past), and yet, he still had so much left to do. He is a tired man that is being forced to kill again and dig up old memories, and the world is no where near done with him.
See you soon (during the week!)
