New Donkey Kong Country Returns Trailer

Is it just me, or is the new DK game looking hard as hell in the best possible way? While I figured it would be a good game back when I first started freaking out about it when it was announced at E3, I wondered just how much it would live up to Kong's legacy. You know... the actual GOOD part of the legacy. I knew it was in the loving hands of Retro Studios, the geniuses behind the Metroid Prime series, but I wouldn't be a good critic if I didn't have my reservations. Wait... am I a good critic? Nevermind. Anyway, with the release of the new trailer, it seems that the difficulty is right up there where it should be: BALLS EFFING HARD! And that makes Chris a very happy camper, until I die a million times on the same level. Haha, just kidding. I'm too good at 2d platformers for that to be an issue. Anyway, take a gander.

A chicken in a mech? Looks like DK beat Fable to its logical conclusion.

The game comes out in a few days, so we can all expect our grades to die soon afterwards. Oh, and on an unrelated note, everyone spam Stephen's articles and get him to agree to buy a hedgehog with me. I would be most appreciative. See you all soon!

The Outlaw's Favorite Game Moments: Mass Effect 2 Scientist Salarian

Have we really gone this long without talking about Mass Effect 2; one of our top contenders for Game of the Year? Shame on us, but less so me because I am the first to do so. To be honest, I don't know why I didn't think of this moment sooner, because it left such an inquisitive grin on my face.

So you've found out some important stuff about the Collectors and now you're doing your rounds, talking to your crew-mates. You come upon your Salarian friend, Mordin, who is doing research, as is custom. You talk to him and he mentions how your enemies are husks. They lack autonomy, customs, culture. They are less than slaves. Continue talking and the two of you discuss how culture is an important part of what makes a species a species. Then you ask about Mordin's cultural experiences and he offhandedly mentions that he performed Gilbert and Sullivan. Wait... I'm sorry... What did he just say?

"... I better go..."

BioWare is so brilliant. Oh, and here is a parting video from a guy who used to do theater. Sound familiar? It's supposed to! Because you know, Gilbert and Sullivan...

I'd love to see this guy in a rap battle. He'd own.

See y'all soon!

Some Dead Space 2 Hype!

So, I don't know about all you out there, but I could not be more excited for Dead Space 2. Visceral Games is putting it all out there, and is not holding back with this next addition. Dead Space 2 is looking as scary, thrilling and screwed up as ever. Not to mention, multiplayer, and from what I can tell, they are not cutting corners to throw out some half way bs multiplayer. I have talked about the multiplayer before, but last time we saw it, I didn't have this.

See what I mean? Actual game-play, from both human and Necro perspective, my god I am excited, this seemingly objective based match looks thrilling and just freaking fun. I can only assume more things, and better things, are to come with the release of this game. Also, there is a new trailer that can once again speak of how bloody creepy this game is going to be. GAH!! I am so pumped!

I really hope you all are as excited as I am about this game. If you are not, go play Dead Space, then watch these again. If you still are not excited, then go jump out of a freakin window, because you obviously are not a real person. (jk, don't. I still love you... maybe. Probably not. I hate you.)

Sneaky Sly 4 Teaser Trailer!

Hidden away in the Sly Collection is this!

The Elitist's Least Favorite Game Moments: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Kazdan Paratus

First off, let us not speak of the second one. I let Chris do the talking for that one.
See? Not Lame.
So, that being said, this game is awesome. It's a creative spin on Star Wars combined with hack'n slash game play, made non-repetitive and fun because well, let's be honest, light sabers force lightning and force push are pretty much always going to be not lame.

However, with hack'n slash games comes pain in the effing-a bosses. Annoyingly difficult bosses, not fun anymore hard bosses. Like this guy.

This guy made a walk-through, specifically for this boss, so A) you know the guy is good (and still has trouble) and B) If it warrants a video walk-through alone, implies people are having a bad time with it. My issue is that, if you watch, the time where he goes for light saber damage, he just gets rocked. So if you leveled up melee damage and what not, this boss is going to take you approximately one billion years, because you can't really effectively deal damage to him (nor can you hurt the big giants very well with melee) using your saber, gotta use the force, on the both of them. Forever. Sucks. I hate him.

LA Noire Debut Trailer

Looks like Rockstar is about to do it again. I don't know what demon they made a deal with, but somehow every time I see the first trailer for an upcoming game of theirs it immediately jumps to the top of my most wanted list... unless there's a new Zelda, Mario, or BioWare game on the horizon... but I digress. Take a peek. And by that, I mean watch the whole thing.

There is just nothing witty to say... faces... too realistic...

So why am I so excited about this? Well, for one, I love a great Noire story. For two, I love the time period. For three, I really want to try my hand at playing the detective instead of the mobster. The trailer says it'll be out by Spring of 2011 and I seriously hope this remains the case. Time to see if it can dethrone Red Dead Redemption as my favorite Rockstar game ever!

Star Wars: The Old Republic, a glance at PvP

There is not much to glean from the video, except more game play shots, which succeeds only in strengthening my anticipation for this game. As a pretty avid WoW player, I am really excited to see how well this game will be implemented. I find my self comparing it to WoW whenever I can, and I hope it lives up to my expectations. I really want this game to be good!!

As far as the PvP is concerned, its hard to say how it will be played out. I speculate that there will be objectives, that much seems obvious. Perhaps, using the cannons to destroy enemy ships, securing victory that way; or perhaps just using the cannon to kill the other side, stemming their advances or defending certain regions.  The video leaves allot to be desired mechanically, but leaves lots of room for speculation and anticipation!
