Netflix On The 3DS Goes Live Today

For all of you who have been waiting to stream movies on a small screen, Nintendo has finally made good on its promise to provide Netflix on the 3DS. Starting today, American and Canadian users can now download the free Netflix app on the e-shop and then pay to actually watch  movies and TV shows.

I've grown tired of posting pictures of the 3DS, so here's a picture of Puppet Angel from a Season 5 episode of "Angel" which is watchable on Netflix. See what I did there?

Plans start at $7.99 and, of course, using the app will require a broadband connection. And for all you parents out there who think your kids don't know anything about sex or violence these days, yes there are parental controls you can implement.

While it's basically your normal experience at the moment, it will eventually be able to utilize the 3DS' capabilities and stream 3D movies without the glasses. My guess is that this will be its prime selling point as all manner of portable devices already have the same service with faster streaming and battery life. It's all the same to us, though. If you want to squint to watch movies that's your business.
