In response to how pissed off gamers were at Splash Damage for their sloppy release of Brink, Bethesda promised us that the first DLC that the game releases will be free.
By their word, it is now free on Steam and XBL
However, it's not forever free. For two weeks the added content will be price-less (not to be confused with priceless) and then after that, gamers will fork over the full price of $9.99 for the new game modes, new maps, and new player abilities.
That leaves you unfortunate souls who purchased the game one more week to get your free DLC.
In case you're still riding the fence on whether or not it's worth it, here is a sum-up.
Two New Maps
- Founder's Tower: Lets players duke it out in the Spire.
- Labs: Some underwater facility where players try to take possession of the old development laboratory.
Five New Player Abilities
- The Operative now can unlock the UAV, which does exactly what you would expect it to: reveal players on the map.
- The Engineer now has access to the Napalm Mine. Which also does what you think it would. Explode, when the enemy least expects it, swallowing him in roaring fire.
- The Soldier now has Napalm Grenades. These do what Napalm Mines do, except the goal is to hit someones face with them, instead of letting them make the folly.
- The Medic can now deploy a Field Regen Unit which increases the rate at which any nearby players' health increases.
- All players will be given the opportunity to unlock the Tactical Scanner, which reveals to the player the active buffs of all enemies, so you know who is the easiest target to take down.
New Weapon Attachments
- Bayonets
- Weapon Shields
Both pretty self explanatory.
New Outfits
- Sad Punk and The Limey. Whatever.
I haven't checked it out yet, but my advice to you is go ahead and download it. You already payed for a half finished game, might as well sap the free shit while you can. Here's to hoping they are still trying to fix it. Cheers.
